Challenge
The Vlaamse Landmaatschappij was looking for framework which would serve the future web developments of the VLM and where they can be developed quickly and efficiently.
Solutions
The public website of the VLM is split up in a general part and some specific parts adressing the target groups 'Agriculturist and Horticulturalist', 'Governments & Organisations', 'Notaries' and 'Intermediaries'. This way the VLM succeeds in structuring on her new site, in a user friendly way, the enormous quantity of information she has.
The site is in a first phase especially informative with some applications such as the projects database, newsletter module and search engine but in the following months more interactive applications will see the light. This site is after all the first application built on the MOSS 2007 (Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server) framework built by LBi. This framework consists of different building blocks which make use of the MOSS 2007 architecture and they enable the VLM to build new applications and sites theirselves.
The project was started in 2006 on the at that time beta release of MOSS 2007. This project can rightly be considered as one of the first Sharepoint 2007 projects in Belgium where Sharepoint was used as underlying system for the management of an extensive public site such as www.vlm.be.
In addition to the complete development of the framework and setting up the new portal site, LBi has also installed and configured the web analysis tool Webtrends Analytics v8. Finally, LBi also helps with the copywriting of the new texts for the public website.
