Challenge
LBi had to develop and deploy 5 iPhone friendly sites within a few days:
These websites are offering top stories, latest news, videos of newscasts, weather reports, sports and magazines, TV programs and finally live radio.
Information is coming from RTL 'regular' websites through RSS feeds. These feeds are compiled, de-duplicated, sorted and displayed on the corresponding iPhone site.
Those sites had to be attractive on iPhone but also comply with Mobistar scripting rules. This was mandatory to be listed on Mobistar iPhone portal which is, indeed, a major traffic generator.
But the major challenge relates to the deadline. RTL wanted to benefit from the media coverage of the iPhone 3G launch. They also wanted be the first, far ahead their competitors.
Initially forecast on July 17, iPhone 3G launch happened a week earlier. Real launch took place on July 11 and... websites were ready (though some features were missing this very day)!
