Case study

Toyota
Intranet and extranet applications

Challenge

Toyota asked LBi to replace the fax and partly the telephone communication by an intranet and extranet solution. It was also important to increase the productivity by delivering information and functions that could ease the day-to-day tasks of the employees and the dealer network staff.

Solutions

LBi developed for Toyota a common web based interface called "TLink", which is meant for both internal and external actors on the network. By internal actors, we mean the employees of Toyota and external, for all staff of the dealer network.

We also created applications like TOFF (Toyota Offer Generator), to add to the global interface to facilitate the day-to-day work.

After delivering these solutions in 1999, Toyota was able to make the transition from telephone communication and fax to intranet and extranet communication.

Responsibilities LBi

In the first year, LBi delivered the first version of the web interface with an access to the existing internal applications. Since then, we deliver a new version of the global interface on a yearly basis, adding functionalities to the many existing applications.

Technologies

  • LBi used Microsoft ASP for the first version of the global interface

In the latest version LBi changed the technologies :

  • TLink technologies (global interface): .NET 1.0/SQL 2000
  • TOFF application technologies: .NET 2.0/SQL 2005/Ajax
