Case study

Shurgard
e-services extranet for customers

Challenge

Shurgard asked LBi to build an easy to use portal using Rich Internet Application technologies that will serve as a first step towards their e-service strategy. This project had two major challenges:
First, LBi had to build an ergonomic Rich Web Application.
Secondly, LBi had to build for Shurgard a new and stable web service layer to connect to their back-office system. This first phase of the project was targeted to the UK market and allowed Shurgard-customers to access their invoices, pay online, access their contract, etc.

The next phase targeted for mid 2008 will deploy MyShurgard for all Europe.

Solutions

LBi selected Adobe Flex technology for delivering the rich experience to the end-users and built as well a strong web service layer based on Java standard frameworks.

Shurgard was very satisfied with the proposed solution and has immediately started the rollout of the first phase.

Responsibilities LBi

We delivered a fully functional e-service website and a web service layer for connecting to Shurgard back-office systems. LBi was also in charge of hosting the solution.

Technologies

  • Adobe Flex 2.0

About Shurgard

Shurgard is the leading self-storage operator in the world with locations in the US and Europe.

It provides secure, private, storage space on a flexible basis without the usual constraints of the traditional furniture storage.

Thanks to the 'self-storage' concept, Shurgard's clients can free up space in their own environment, and move their surplus belongings to a Shurgard self-storage centre in their neighbourhood.
